Well, in a slight defense of the film on this account, Tom Cruise is not the last samurai, even according to the movie. There were samurai rebellions (the Satsuma Rebellion being the most prominent) and there were western white guys who were hired as military advisers to a reforming Japan. There were also western white guys who became enamered with Japanese society and began living traditional Japanese lives. There are many, many reasons to complain about the historical accuracy of the film. That's just not the best one.

That's not really how they handle it in the film though.

Billy Connolly is also in it, which is a point in favour of any film.

Dr Strangelove is Kubrick's only great film.
The School of Rock is one of the greatest films of all time.
The third Harry Potter is one of the worst of the series.
Miller's Crossing is better than The Big Lebowski.
Star Wars is for kiddies.
Brad Pitt is terrible in Se7en (good film though) 12 Monkeys, Inglourious Basterds (long, boring yet interesting film) and Burn After Reading.
People cry unrealistically in Tarkovsky films which always makes me feel very uncomfortable (other than that his films are great yes yes).
Mulholland Dr. is a very poignant film, not an empty puzzle.
Dick Van Dyke is awesome.

And after watching The Decalogue and The Wire I have come to the conclusion that TV > Cinema (in potential)

For Star Wars, there's an "only" missing.

the brad pitt one is factual. did anyone notice the gratuitous scenes of him eating hamburgers and doing chinups in that recent piece of shit dodgeball? its like they used leftover footage from those oceans movies, motherfucker is beyond typecast

Man, that was a good movie. Can't speak for Pitt's performance because I can't remember it, but I liked the film. Beats Dodgeball, anyway.
