Road To Perdition is Mendes' best not American Beauty
The Prestige is better than Inception
Ron Howard = Boring
John Cusack is overated (and has done nothing of any importance in over a decade)
Matrix Revolutions is actually a good movie
Scorses is overated post Goodfellas
CopLand is best Stallone

Does anyone seriously dispute that Ron Howard is boring? Matrix Revolutions is a terrible movie and so is Reloaded. Goodfellas itself is severely overrated.

john cusack is good when he just lets himself be. I think he has a very recognizable personality that comes on screen, but when he tries too hard to thoroughly become a character like what ever that bullshit he's in like The Raven, he blows mad dudes. I like his work in High Fedelity tho, which is pretty much him.

Some actors fair better just being themselves b/c they have presence, while other actors have better work when they become something entirely different, which actually comes from their lack of natural presence (like Oldman). Cusack falls in the former for me

High Fidelity is one of the best films of the '00s imo and it's really all thanks to Cusack.

I loved him in Con Air, too, but that's really just the childhood action movie nostalgia talking. I want to see Cameron Crowe's Say Anything, though. It looks excellent and I hope it will star a fun version of Cusack.

Pretty much yes to all of this, even about Con Air lolol. Love High Fidelity and he's great in it, like him almost as much in Say Anything.

Cusack could have done all that blindfolded.

Haven't yet read the book. I have it here, but it's not quite high priority yet. First I really wanna get to Lonesome Dove and Solaris, I've decided. Then I might consider bumping it forward on the to-read list. The screenplay is excellent, that's true. But I fell in love with the film because of the way Cusack plays it tbh.

For every High Fidelity there are Identity, Serendipity, Must Love Dogs, The Contract, 1408.etc...I am not sure of his more recent work but i'm not holding my breath on Shangai or The Raven ...He has screen presence i give him that but very one dimensional from what i've seen of him.
