one thing that does surprise me is that "Ikiru" is nowhere to be found... remember when it won the previous ddd's favorite movie tournament?

i thought there will be blood beat it in the final? but still...

i thought there will be blood won, but yeah i think it was second. I'da preferred it over the overrated Ran and also include High and Low

Maybe I could update this list every now and then, but I can't see who else would post a list besides Jake and myself.

for noirish Kurosawa, nothing beats The Bad Sleep Well. Quite possibly the greatest non-American crime thriller ever made.

I might update mine eventually, since I'm very much still a film noob. There's a lot of "essential" films I haven't seen yet.

it would be fun to do it again in around a year to see how our tastes change. i've started to do that with my all time favorite music and movies--with a new list every year or 6 months--instead of editing one over and over again.

The Testament of Dr Mabuse is already better than M. And yeah, I place The Bad Sleep Well higher as well. (just as a noirish thriller; I don't mean like that it's a greater film or anything)
