:lol: that's my friend genil... his three biggest influences are lenny, ed bickert, and joe diorio (with whom he studied at usc in the 80s)... and yes, he and ted were good friends. he talked to ted after the lenny documentary was made, and ted was so upset that they got several hours worth of interviews from him, where he explained lenny's playing style in detail, and they only included a few stupid soundbites (but what did he expect...).
genil himself is as good as they get imo... one of the greatest jazz players in the world today... he put out a new clip about a month ago, channeling holdsworth, which shocked me a bit, because i'm so used to his lenny/ed/joe/ted thing.

im not sure. my best guess would be mid-60s'ish, like probably somewhere between '63-'65. but that's just a guess. i doubt it would have been earlier than '63 though.

thank you, i enjoyed it... the only thing i didn't like it the tone/timbre of his instrument, but i liked his riffing.

also, did not enjoy it much. he could have left off the noodling there

He probably did it for free to make up for driving round the track 'in a reasonably priced car' like a 10 year old girl
