This is Marshall Harrison playing Paganini on a Shawn Lane guitar:

Great technique, but it was difficult to listen to that for more than 30 seconds.

This is the most impressive thing I've seen from him.

Marshall's a fan of a dark, somewhat muffled high-gain guitar sound, and when this is coupled with the dubious recording qualities of a camera mic, the results aren't astonishingly listenable. The piece is splendid, though, and I hope that Marshall gets to record a proper take some time, both of that one and many other classical pieces. That's what I wanna hear him do, play crazy classical pieces on electric guitar. I've never seen anyone with such a smooth and efficient technique on the electric guitar.

Not as efficient as MH, no. MH has developed a right hand technique that is beyond anything I've seen before, and his left hand is equally frightening.

This is pure chops, though.

I feel that Lane's picking technique is superior cause he manages to keep a good tone when going into warp speed but for efficiency marshall harrison is probably the best ive seen. The main issue i have with his technique that it produces a very lifeless tone (magnified by his equipment choice and recording equipment) but he could play into david gilmours rig and it'd still sound similar i reckon. Im not hating on the guy though, seems like his goal was to play the most insanely hard stuff in the cleanest and most efficient manner. So in that regard hes obviously succeeded.

Yes, and I believe that is indeed his goal. I don't have a problem with that, it serves its purpose quite well, and I think it's cool to see and hear someone who can execute these things in such a way.
