I wish your ddd account was 'done' too.

Anyway, fuck this thread. Way too hard to rank guitar solos.

I remember Sodacake making an idea of 'Favourite Guitar Solos' where we just name our personal favourites and kind of share them by listing them. I'm not sure if he still supports the idea, but I think it is cool. (I trashed it back in the day)

I still think it's a much better idea than just ranking them. That or we could make a list and called it "Some Great Guitar Solos" and just list them alphabetically.

That would be much easier to compile too, without getting stuck in the same old arguments about Eruption vs. Texas Flood and that sort of shit.

It would be much more useful in terms of music appreciation.

The only weak link in the chain is Lew. He'll probably still use this as the list for the site, and it'll probably stay pinned and get more attention if we do start this new alphabetically ranked list.

texas flood is actually an incredibly banal and generic blues rock solo, with absolutely no historical or seminal importance. wouldnt make my personal top 300 and i have no idea why it would ever make an objective top 10. pure insanity

It can only be there as some sort of token representation for SRV. I has never meant anything to me at all

If you're going to arbitrarily place a SRV solo high on the list out of respect, why not choose a better one? There are certainly a large number of better options.
