Oh the joys of newcomers who think their first impressions are better than the years of consideration and discussion that built this list. Well, the high end anyway.

Come on guys - We should welcome newcomers and embrace their opinions not put them down. God knows the guitar forum is pretty quiet these days !!

Zephead

The top 10 have been debated uphill and down dale for some years. It has been said that 2-6 are so close that any arguments are possible, but by the criteria we use, they are pretty well locked in. How about some opinions on the 10-50 range ?

It's hard to embrace newcomers who are so arrogant they don't even have the courtesy of explaining their objections.

Is there anyone left to consider unworthy of the unnumbered list?

I didn't think his post was arrogant more than timid.

I do think Iommi has just as much influence, if not more.

I'd say both originality and influence go to Iommi.

I think I would too.
Creativity and skill definitely go to Eddie though.

Versatility should be Iommi pretty easily. Planet Caravan, Into The Void, Warning, Laguna Sunrise, Heart Like A Wheel, Kill In The Spirit World.....all pretty different.

But I dont think George or Yngtchie particularly care about discussing the top 10 once again...

Hi jfauser and welcome !!

Some interesting selections

I agree with Yousha, that there is hardly a guitarist with less 'Attitude' than Gilmour.

Chuck Berry is a good call on songwriting and riffs

EVH for speed is a little strange as I dont think he was ever regarded as the fastest player around, even at his peak.

Welcome to the forum, jfauser. :tiphat:

The speed thing with EVH is understandable to me if you're thinking of how he used his faster licks. He made it sound cool, not as in-your-face as many others have. I'm an YJM fan, thru and thru, but I can definitely see how people would be put off by his rapid fire leads, ditto with many other guitarists renowned for their finger velocity.
