That's just a placeholder because my mind went totally blank at that section and all I could think about was that Petrucci writes most of the songs in Dream Theater.

Nice to see Kotzen in there YB. I really like his playing but he gets a lot of bad press for the Poison/Mr Big stuff.

Cant believe I missed PK off my versatility list !!!

Yeah, I think it's so weird that Kotzen's least representative work is always the first thing that comes to mind when his names comes up in a discussion.

"Kotzen? Oh, right, that guy who got kicked out of Poison"

He did better in Mr. Big, but he was still the guy who replaced Gilbert after Mr. Big's popularity had dwindled, leaving Japan as the only country where they were still attracting big crowds. A shame, too, that his more subdued style gets a bad rep for not being as technically impressive as Gilbert's, as if that's what a band like Mr. Big is all about. Hell, I don't see that, either, Kotzen to me is just as interesting as Gilbert, only in a different way. Very musical guitarist, such a great feel for a lot of different styles.

His rhythm playing is his greatest strength, imo.

Welcome to the thread.

Iommi and Van Halen are so close by the criteria....you could have either one ahead and it wouldn't be unreasonable.

I do think Iommi has just as much influence, if not more.
