personally i think that top 8 is untouchable.

i also just realized how much the list has moved away from individual spots and more towards groupings, which i like.

i actually remember why i stopped commenting on this list. because arguing 3 vs 4 gets tiresome lol.

however, i would urge those here who arent familiar with his work to check out Nels Cline. not that a majority of his work would fit in this thread, but recently he has found his way towards more traditional rock as he joined Wilco. and at first, you think "Nels going traditional? sounds like the man lost his balls", but when you take that creative force and put it within a more traditional setting, the results can be awesome at times.

Agreed. There should be no more discussion about the top 20 or something. We've all been there done that and there are plenty of other guitarists who aren't nearily enough discussed on here. I think the top 20 as it currently is is pretty the best it's gonna get.

it is interesting, isn't it, in a list with several hundred names, 90% of the attention is devoted to those few spots

wish Adrian Belew wasn't 75 spots below Fripp.

Oh crap, I forgot about Brian May. Very underrated he is.

Oh hell yeah. May was underrated because of Mercury. Completely overshadowed by him.

Brian is amazing! Not that Freddie isn't guy who would overshadow everyone else though...

I don't see how Chuck Berry could be any higher than he is. He might have kick-started rock guitar, but he is still far less noticeable and accomplished than any of the 7 in front of him. I think having him at 8 is testament enough to his importance.
