I know but what's there to dislike about it?
The tone is explosive, as are the notes themselves....not just the tapping, but his picking is pretty absurd too....

Yeah, plus the rapping in that song is blazing. Not to forget the pink bunny!

and Neg, The tapping and the picking may be the most impressive thing ever, but its not what id like to listen to, plus, the tone could be the best thing ever, and it still wouldnt fix the mess that is that composition. Its a milestone for the guitar, perhaps the single most influential piece of guitar music, but i would never, ever sit down and listen to it if i had the option not to. Spanish Fly is still listenable, often enjoyable given the right moment. But eruption, no thank you

Oh for fuck's sake, please don't compare it to Brokencyde.

It's like playing the Hitler card. But worse.

Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man.

Look, I used to piss off metalheads on this forum all the time because I ripped on shred guitarists a whole hell of a lot, but I matured a lot since then, and I came to accept that some shredders (like Friedman for example) are fantastic at what they do.

What sounds good is in the ear of the beholder, but I realized that talent is talent and it should be respected even if you don't like it. I'll even defend Dream Theater if I have to, and that takes a lot of pride swallowing because I hate that fucking band.

You just shouldn't compare someone like Malmsteen, who (like him or not) is exceptionally talented, to Brokencyde. It's fucking wrong man. IT'S WRONG!!!

Why would somebody think that Eruption is not a metal solo?

I'm a little shocked to see Crazy Train outside of the top 10 considering how famous that solo is. At least it's up there in the top 15.

People who hate on Eruption can fuck off forever.

Thats false, but Eruption is perhaps an acquired taste, but that sort of technical flurry of notes doesnt appeal to me usually.

and im not comparing it to brokencyde, just stating a point to Neg that unique=/= enjoyable for all
