because #2 is better? Marcel's video is definitely more musical but Andy's chops surpass him.

I still love this quote from my oldest brother:

"Mark Tremonti can go toe-to-toe with any guitarist in the world right now."

When I've mentioned Michael Romeo and Paul Gilbert he was like "Who the hell is that?".

 I know he does. He only listens to a few kinds of music and is pretty much caught in the mainstream. I really want both of my bros to open their minds a bit, but I don't see it happening.

Show your bro this list and report back on how angry it made him that Mark Tremonti isn't on it.

Okey, your brother is so wrong but Mark Tremonti honestly isn't bad guitarist: he just isn't part of the greatest band in our universe. (Creed ) Some of Tremonti's stuff is pretty cool.

I like his rhythm playing. Not a fan of his solos, though.

Great rhythm player, for sure. He can play great solos but isn't the tastiest player out there. (And most of his solos sound like million other guitarists)

Poland's best/most prolific playing is outside of Metal so I don't think he's really eligible for this list.

He's most well known for the Megadeth stuff...I think he's eligible...he played thrash for several years, straight thrash...he isn't enough of a 'metal guitarist'?

Yousha - no worries :-)

Yeah Rolling Stone were full of shit. But that only backs what I was saying I think, that Kirk is so insanely overrated by noobs that he's, as a result, become super underrated by serious guitarists, at least in the online musician community.

Kirk should be on this list. He's definetely better than John P. The only thing that John's really good at is finger tapping which he does in every one of his solos. Kirk does some crazy stuff like in Blackened and Dyer's Eve. :parrot: :parrot: :parrot: :parrot: :parrot: :parrot: :parrot: :parrot: :parrot:

STFU

Sodacake I'm on ignore? Or is the douche I just quoted?

Also would Al Pitrelli make the list?

He qualifies as a metal guitarist, but when his most interesting playing is outside the metal field, after he left Megadeth, it's a bit strange to rate him as one of the most technically skilled metal guitarists.

By some, sure, but all in all, Hammett simply doesn't cut it compared to so many other greats who don't get nearly as much exposure. The problem isn't that his playing is simple, which some critics seem to think is the case, but rather that it's just not all that interesting.

Yes, solid rhythm player (only listened to his Alter Bridge work), but not one of the best soloists...
