I still dont see it as a top 100 album. I dont know if I see Ten as a top 100 album also, and Ten is a more important album than Siamese Dream. Siamese Dream is a pretty sweet album of course. Just not my definition of a great guitar account.

Neither do I. I've never found it particularly interesting when looking at it like that.

Thirded.

McCready is cool and everything, but come on...

I'm sure it could squeeze in the lower portion of the top 100 though.

What merits does it have at all?

Well Ten being such a huge album and all, and probably the 2nd most important album in the grunge scene after Nevermind, gets brownie points there. Im a big fan of ten, but not so much the guitar playing. If any grunge album gets the top 100 spot, it's Dirt without question, or Jar of Flies even. Cantrell IMO was far better than all the other dudes from the other 3 bands.

Ten is an important album I agree, but Pearl Jam's sound isn't really guitar driven. In guitar terms it didn't do anything new or interesting.

Pearl jam's sound IS guitar driven, but I agree with the latter part. In terms of guitar driven songs of theirs, something like Spin the Black circle works a LOT better IMO.

However, Mccready's short solos are really awesome. The one on Wishlist is absolutely breathtaking, my favorite song of PJ in the 'softer' category. Also, does not necessarily use the classic rock tone he always goes for, which sounds quite nice to me.

I should have clarified, I meant specifically on Ten. Maybe there is an exception or two but generally speaking its not a particularly guitar centric album.

I would agree with that last part. I've always thought of Cantrell as sort of a "modernized Iommi", at least in the context of his era.
Still think that wicked opening riff to We Die Young is an explosive way to kick off your first album!

Also, is anyone interested in continuing this?
We were off to a pretty good start, imo.

I'd personaly place Paranoid instead of masters of reality in top 10, that album made more kids wanna pick up a guitar and do the iron man or paranoid riff.

I also agree on Paranoid > Master of Reality

I'm willing to bet that just as many kids picked up guitars after hearing Children Of The Grave or Into The Void.

But overall, yes, Paranoid is just too iconic.

Not only iconic. All songs from Paranoid have at least two dazzling riffs and solos.

Siamese Dream is definitely in the top 10 rock guitar albums of all time for me.

It eats Rising Force for breakfast and shits it out.
