The Chicago kid with the 'young-Elvis' face. The one and only.
Imho the very best electric blues guitarist of all time. Quite possibly the best blues tone ever as well, along with Peter Green.
Mike was playing with blues giants like Robert Nighthawk when he was barely in his early 20's. Everyone from Clapton to Hendrix has played with Mike and gave him nothing but the highest praise.

Any chance you got the "East-West" studio version?

I've been fascinated by Bloomfield since I bought the Electric Flag album. It seems like each time I listen to it the guitar playing gets better. I also own Joplin's Kozmic Blues Band and Dylan's Highway 61. What other stuff is worth getting? I saw Triumvirate with John Hammond Jr and Dr John in the store, is that any good?

I've never heard Triumvirate, I've heard it's not great but often with those sort of releases it's best to judge for yourself so i think I might listen to it.

I always found Electric Flag a wee bit disappointing from a Bloomfield point of view beyond Another Country - it's a big ensemble piece so he's not always front and centre.
Super Session is required listening even though he's only on side 1. Also Lost Concert Tapes which is essentially live Super Session & East-West by The Paul Butterfield Blues Band.

Aye, Another Country is great. Like an acid trip with a kick-ass bluesy guitar solo in it. But I still need to hear the studio version of East-West. I've heard a live version which was veryvery good. If it's half as good as the original, i'm dying to hear it! :D

I was disappointed at first too, I didn't even know they had a horn section and I was expecting blues rock, while the record is more soul-influenced imo. The record has grown on me a lot though. Another Country is probably the best showcase for Bloomfield but the other songs are very good too, even though he takes more of a backseat on some.
