It must have been 2004 or 2005 the 1st time and no more than 120 people there. I'd only heard about Joe through talking to Walter Trout after a show. He blew my socks off. He was more aggressive and played faster (was overweight and had long hair as well).
The following year he played a bigger venue in the same town and this time we couldnt get in as it was a sellout and we hadnt pre-bought tickets. Didnt think we would need to. 150 miles travelling for nothing. We caught him later on elsewhere though.
He has never disappointed so far. His band are 1st rate, you always get 2 hours or more and he pours his heart into it.
He cancelled a show in Manchester once due to Illness (another 200 miles travelling wasted) and he flew to the UK and back from Spain on a single day off later in the tour just to play a rescheduled show and not let his fans down.
And of course, the BCC show was brilliant as well.
His status is already unbelievably high for a solo blues/rock guitar player in this day and age, but he just keeps on delievring album after album of quality material and super live shows. I guess it must plateau sometime, but he just keeps on rolling ...
