Probably should add this guitar solo for Marty Friedman:

Can someone do one for Tommy Bolin? I've been getting into him a lot lately through Deep Purple. The guy was versatile as hell.

Here is my fav Bolin ( posted before ).

Whips and Roses version

Studio version I prefer this one but his versatility was enormous. A real loss.

Rick,

With Bolin there is such a diverse group of material to suggest but one would be amiss if Billy Cobham`s Spectrum album was not mentioned in its entirity as an essential work .... beyond the albums notoriety as a spectacular drummers album, the guitar work from a young Tommy Bolin shows at that time in the 70`s, Bolin was in a league almost all to himself .... and could be argued as possibly the greatest American rock guitarist after Hendrix .... Your thoughts ? ....Take care

gminer,
Do you have the Purple album "On The Wings Of A Russian Foxbat"? I know Bolin played on it, but I think I heard from someone that his playing there was very "drug-induced"...

In total agreement, as I said, such a loss. Spectrum is well known here and I have it at # 50 on the Jazz album list.
