Declan is ridiculously beautiful. 9/10 for me, simply for the tone and melodies.

Bloomfield ripping shit apart...

Nice, though nothing really amazing. 7/10 for me.

Intense shit from 1954! Can never understand why people like this get overlooked in the general history of rock guitar.

Oh, man, this is really from 1954!? It's brilliant! This man was obviously ahead of his time. 9/10 from me!

I love Knopfler, but that really didn't do much for me. 6/10. Great melody though.

Possibly the first feedback intro, three years before the Beatles did it on I Feel Fine.

As an overall perfomrance, pretty great. Just not that impressive guitar wise, other than the fact that it's pretty hard to play like that and sing at the same time. 6.5/10

9/10. Some of Ritchie's finest playing! And Gillan actually sounds awesome there, with no falsetto wailing!

I still love the 'pre Brothers in Arms' material, but the whole big production stuff that followed hasnt really aged well for me. Knopfler is such a unique and gifted player though. I remember the 1st time I heard Sultans on the radio - I went straight to the record shop and bought the LP. Still play it now !! .

Private Investigations isnt a huge test of Knopflers talents, it's more of an atmosphere piece I guess.

For something a little different -here's 2 clips from Antonio Forcione. They call him the 'Jimi Hendrix' of acoustic guitar. He plays everything - Pick, fingers, slapping, tapping etc etc.

The first clip is him playing 'I heard it through the grapevine'. He is a great showman and adds lots of comedy amongst the serious stuff. The 2nd clip is one of his comedic pieces

Private Investigation definitely works more as a song than a guitar performance

Yep, he really does have a great bluesy voice. Too bad he didnt sing more often.
Much better voice than Clapton, imo...

I would never say that he has a better voice than Clapton.

The Seeker, those clips were great, he is indeed a gifted showman! The playing in the first clips was absolutely sublime... I'd give it 8.5/10
