Man, I came to a point where I could not love this guy more. His style is just so special, you can see an obvious Hendrix influence all over his albums, but he keeps being unique; IMO, he had the best tone of all times, not very difficult to get, but still so special: very complete sound, full of sustain too. I can't even play one of his songs without spending 20 or 30 minutes trying to get a respectable tone. Truly, truly amazing.

Good stuff, btw. I will look for something cool to post one of these days.

Not my fave blues-rock player, but right up there with the best! I knew your link was gonna be that Tin Pan Alley, his playing is just on fire there!
One of my recently heard faves is this:

it's Riviera Paradise... which, along with Lenny, is my favorite SRV instrumental... simply beautiful stuff!

Yes it blows me away. There was a live version on tv I remember seeing that was even better. This guy was BORN to play live!

Wanted, check out the song elsewhere and tell me your opinions..

I think this is the best studio solo I've heard from Vaughan...

Just listen to the cries of his instrument at about 3:01.... :freak:

Oh my God. I was about to post that Leave My Girl Alone is my favourite solo. Jesus Christ, what a coincidence. Fantastic song indeed.

Anyway, ranking the studio albums:

1. Texas Flood
2. Couldn't Stand the Weather
3. Soul to Soul
4. The Sky Is Crying
5. In Step

Honestly, Vaughan was SO MUCH better live than in studio. After hearing his live stuff, his studio stuff is almost tame in comparison...which is saying something!
Most of the studio albums have too many throw-aways for me ("Ain't Gonna Give Up On Love"...just boring as hell, imo).

Do you have the live album From The Beginning?
