* There have been questions of the "liveness" of Thin Lizzy`s Live and Dangerous but for the time being, the placement on the list will be as if that was not an issue..... Wheels on Fire by Cream has also been a source of debate as it is not a complete live album

A quick explanation of the criteria used for the basis of this list is as follows - Criteria: - Popularity, Influence and Impact but also material that represents those rock guitarists that are seen as some of the greatest live players both by their peers and critics ... for example Phil Keaggy`s live work may not be very well known but as a live player he is significant enough to warrant an entry on this list and would undoubtedly have the respect of every guitarist on this list .....or Live in Boston (Live at the Boston Tea Party) - Fleetwood Mac is an album once discovered that moves quickly onto many personal greatest lists.... any thoughts/comments/etc ??.... Take care

wow! a gminer list! :thumb:

I think the top 10 has the right albums although I haven't heard neither Strangers in the Night nor Right Here, Right Now (I never plan on listening to this) so I can't comment much.

I don't know how it breaks up with the criteria but I'm pretty sure HtWWW kicks in the nuts, punches in the stomach and right jabs Frampton Comes Alive in the same way Bruce Lee would destroy Jackie Chan.

Oh and expect some Live at Leeds > everything else ranting from Clash.

HTWWW lacks the influence and all that cause its so new....its definitely the most acclaimed live album to come out in recent times.....

awesome indeed. id only like to mention that based on the criteria, live in leeds could drop a few places down till 9, and the 2 below it go above it....this also needs another hendrix in the top 10 or 15, possibly Band of Gypsys , Hendrix in the west or Monterey....all deserving of high positions cause well...its Jimi....just for consideration Sir....

dont see tht happening....

whats so great about the guitar playing from live at leeds anyway ? sure, great live album and all ...really that influential to guitarists ? really shows great skill ?? this is a question, not a mockery, that album is a hallmark i am aware of it....not aware of it as a hallmark guitar live album.....

...very true, it has been difficult not to flood the top area with albums from players like Hendrix, had considered showing one or two and then maybe a sub group below the principal pick and call them worthy alternatives or additional choices etc ... anything is possible ... Take care

something like the following maybe

3)Live at Woodstock - Jimi HENDRIX
- additional picks
- Band Of Gypsys
- Monterey
- Hendrix in the West
4)Live in Germany 76 - RAINBOW
- additional picks
- On Stage
- Live in Munich
