Definitely should be on there. It has a ridiculous cult following.

I don't know, I just have doubts over wether or not a big budget movie that was popular enough to launch one of the biggest selling arcade games of all time and a sequel that grossed $400 million and spawned all kinds of merchandise really counts as a cult film.

However I accept that a cult classic doesn't always have to be a commercial failure. Many people do cite Tron as a cult film, and I can't really argue with popular consensus when it comes to this subject.

It HAS remained a beloved classic among nerds despite being forgotten by the mainstream relatively quickly and being dismissed by many critics. I guess that's enough to qualify.

The success of the sequel could be attributed in part to the growing reputation the original has had over the decades, and half of it is attributed to how the visuals attracted a lot of people who have never even heard of the original. I guess there's no law that says a cult classic can't have a sequel that ends up being a smash hit.

Daft Punk was also heavily responsible for the influx of people that went to see it.

I don't think Kill Bill Vol 1 should be here at all. Tarantino's films may be a pastiche of everything that makes a cult movie but I wouldn't say they are cult movies themselves, except Reservoir Dogs, which didn't really get noticed until after Pulp Fiction.

Kill Bill vol 1 was a very hyped movie to begin with (because it's Tarantino) and it lived up to it by being a huge commercial and critical success. Isn't a cult movie supposed to gain a big following over a slow period of time? Kill Bill found one overnight.

Yeah, I don't see how it's a cult film.

Of all his post-Reservoir Dogs movies, wouldn't Death Proof be the most cult of his films? And even that should not count as one.

Idiocracy is a decent comedy, not the best thing Mike Judge has done but it definitely has some great moments.
