I decided that this list should be made after finishing Firefly yesterday. I don't know what the Top 5 will look like, but I feel like the original Star Trek and Doctor Who should be #1 and 2, respectively. Here are some shows:

Star Trek
Star Trek: The Next Generation
Battlestar Galactica (2004-2009)
Doctor Who
Firefly
Babylon 5
The Twilight Zone
The X-Files
Lost
Lost in Space
The Outer Limits
Stargate SG-1
Fringe
Torchwood
Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles
Mystery Science Theater 3000
Farscape
Buck Rogers in the 25th Century
Star Trek: Deep Space 9
Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Why do you add the years of Battlestar Galactica and not of the others? Is there something I missed? *apologises to Brien beforehand*

There was an earlier version of the show that I believe aired in the 1970s. The one that aired in the 2000s is a remake, I believe.

Well yeah. I was just explaining why you put the years in there. I assume PBR Streetgang didn't know it was a remake.

Nah you're safe in here. I don't care about Sci-Fi tv shows.

Me neither, it seems. I haven't seen one single episode from any of these shows, except maybe a part of an X-Files episode at a friend's house or something.

Doctor Who should be #1.

I wasn't sure between Doctor Who and Star Trek. A case can definitely be made for it at #1 though, as it has ridiculous longevity, critical acclaim (much moreso for the new series though), influence, impact, massive popularity (even the Queen watches it), and all the usual jazz.

Not sure how much its cultural impact is outside of England though when compared to Star Trek.

I started working on this a few years ago, didn't get too far. Here's what I came up with:

1. Star Trek
2. The Twilight Zone
3. Dr. Who
4. The X-Files
5. Babylon 5
6. Lost
7. Star Trek: The Next Generation
8. Battlestar Galactica (remake)
9. Stargate SG-1
10. The Prisoner
11. Farscape
12. Lost in Space
13. Mystery Science Theater 3000
14. Firefly
15. Red Dwarf
16. Star Trek: Deep Space Nine
17. The Outer Limits
18. Quantum Leap
19. Battlestar Galactica (original)
20. Blake’s 7

That looks pretty good. I'd put TNG over Lost though because cultural impact and possibly The X-Files.
