RedLetterMedia did a good review of Star Trek, basically summing up how it's a decent film worth a watch but probably closer to a Star Wars film (action-wise) than Star Trek.

Yeah I was about to say, I love The Village.

the "yeah" in that sentence confuses me since we seem to disagree lol.

It doesn't count at all. It was nominated for 4 Oscars.

i kind of like those kinds of awards cuz they give opportunities to those other films that would otherwise have not gotten to the oscars, especially helping sci-fi and horror.

i like that award because i have many friends in theatre who's job is make-up and it is a true art form that should be recognized...

but what i meant was that the only awards that actually take into account the strength of the film itself are best picture, best director, and best screenplay to some extent. the acting and tech awards are for specific aspects of a film and are not associated usually with its overall quality (although excellence in specific areas can contribute to a film's quality obviously)

Haven't seen Spawn but I don't see why the other two should be guilty pleasures. I thought U-turn was quite good and Red Planet was definitely enjoyable.

Did they make a film covering Red Planet (the novel)'s sequels or did the film brush over them?

David Lynch's Dune. Indefensible on most levels, but more than any other SF film I've seen it really does feel like the real thing. An artifact from a bizarre distant future rather than an attempt to depict one.

Why would you be guilty about liking Baseketball? Yasmine Bleeth at her best.
