No particular limitations on what to nominate but the good rule of thumb is no Taxi Driver

Meh, fine. Someone else might nom it anyway. Don't know if this thing will really get going but here's my picks:

La Strada - Federico Fellini

Psycho - Alfred Hitchcock

Nothing special but you know.

Wouldn't it be better to give a theme/genre or a time-period or something ? So that the films would be easier to compare, could go against the aim of a tourney though, I wouldn't know. Or say you're not allowed to use films from DDD's favourites.

That does sound like a good restriction because I would like to see more obscure stuff from you guys which you think isn't getting enough exposure as it is but I guess we need more opinions from others.

Yeah I'd totally be on board with restricting it to films outside of the DDD Top 100. Need them obscure films man

That sounds cool to me. I also wouldn't have to change either of my picks (I'm kind of surprised that Sunrise isn't in the DDD 100), but I'd consider changing "Sunrise" to something a bit more esoteric

My knowledge of movies is decent but no where near my music knowledge. I can replace Stalker if we're really restricting it but it'd still be something fairly well known (maybe some Fellini actually.)

So yeah, changed the rules to be a little more restrictive. Soda, Vil - sorry guys, but you need to change both of your picks, jfauser - you have to change one although Alfred Hitchcock's most popular movie doesn't exactly scream esoteric. Ryan and Don-Alexei don't need to change anything but in case if you do want to change something make a new post instead of editing old one.

I'll keep Hausu (those of you who haven't seen it are in for...something.), but in keeping with the more esoteric theme of this tourney, i'll switch out Sunrise (my longest standing Favorite Film of All Time warhorse).

In its place, i'm picking The Thief and the Cobbler: Recobbled Cut (available here: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=P ... 620B61D076.

Richard Williams' faded, unrestored, 35mm workprint is also up on Youtube and I strongly recommend watching that after the Recobbled cut for comparison: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H_aHoRGr8KQ
