either never or almost never... the best concerts for me always carry an element of surprise.

I'm assuming you're not counting being handed a program at the door, so I have to say never.

Yes, because I use it to determine whether or not I want to attend to the concert.

If it's a band I don't know the entire discography is I will, so I can catch up on the relevant material. If it's one of my all-time favourites that I know inside and out, I'll leave it to surprise.

Almost always regardless of the band.

No, but I haven't had the chance to see a band who had a mixed batch of work (by my preferences/standards, obvs). If The National swung through I may very well see if their recent sets were heavy on High Violet, and seeing that they were, I may skip.

Usually not, but I will for some major artists. Usually I follow what McCartney and Ringo are playing when they're on tour whether I'm going or not. Maybe for Dylan since he's always changing it up so much.

Never. I like the surprise. Seems like nearly every concert I go to, the artist ends up playing a really off-the-wall setlist anyway, so I wouldn't want to spoil that.

If they have a recent album that I don't care for, I may check before buying tickets, although this is usually unnecessary. I don't need to do any research to know I shouldn't bother with Magnetic Fields shows for a while.

Never. I like going in and being surprised (and trying to guess what they will play).

Considering in the last 3 years, the only shows I have seen are by Phish, and in 1500+ shows, they have never played the same setlist twice, I always check the setlists leading up to the show. That way, I get a sense of how they have been playing recently, and I never have to risk knowing the setlist ahead of time. It will always be a surprise.
