Clash,
So now we're taking the word of Rolling fucking Stone magazine? Come on....

You think it's just Rolling Stone?

Not in the top 3000 - Goats Head Soup

The Who never sold out. To sell out you have to have some musical integrity in the first place. Band was a pale imitation and rip-off artists.

A better poll would be artists with the most consecutive great album openers....Zeppelin gave me this idea...

Good Times, Bad Times
Whole Lotta Love
Immigrant Song
Black Dog
The Song Remains the Same

Amazing....

Even Custard Pie is pretty good.

Yeah, that's a great run. The Doors had a solid run of albums, too.

All rock bands are ripoff artists.

Especially the indie ones.

Yah it's hypnotic. The whole album is epic, stellar piece of psych.

I learned about most of these great underground psych bands from Rick...
Red Krayola, Elmer Gantry's Velvet Opera, Blossom Toes, awesome stuff.

Plus, you gotta listen to that Silver Apples song. Talk about being ahead of your time!

I agree as well. I hadn't heard that. Anyone who hasn't heard that United States of America album should do so.

What do you think of Silver Apples? Their stuff blows me away....so creative for that time.

Since you all liked West Coast Pop Art Experimental Band, you should check out the rest of the album, and it's companion album, "Part 2".

I love music that's too dark and weird for radio....

Out of these options, the Rolling Stones, but my personal picks would be Pavement (entire career), New Order (Movement to Technique), Kanye West (entire career), Animal Collective (Here Comes the Indian to the present), Pixies (entire career), Radiohead (The Bends to the present) and R.E.M. (Murmur to Green). There might be some others that I'm not thinking of. Oh, and Yo La Tengo (Painful to And Then Nothing Turned Itself Inside Out).
