So this is me being brave . I was always the type of girl I'm embarrassed to say that just listened to whatever music her boyfriend or roommates were listening to at the time. Then I married John and he hates everything that isn't classical music, so that's pretty much all I listened to for a few years. I did assert myself far enough to introduce him to a little Jazz, but other than that it took me a long time to start trying to figure out what I actually like. So, in many ways I'm a blank slate, and I'm looking for suggestions of things I should give a chance. The few artists I have figured out I like so far are pretty eclectic, so don't be afraid to suggest something different.

If you want to be adventurous, turn this on and you'll never turn back. Suave, classy songs for the small hours.

Give some electronic music a try. The Prodigy, Underworld, Daft Punk, and Leftfield are good starting points.

I think everybody who is into eclectic stuff likes Tom Waits.

Get a decent sized Al Green compilatation(as in larger than fifteen songs). I've got his Absolute Best and I appreciate it more every single time.

Location: here. hi.
based on your brief mention of jazz, you might like checking out the jazz fusion genre, mainly Miles Davis' 70's work, and Jaco Pastorius-era Weather Report. I'd suggest checking out Steely Dan's albums. They were a very good singles band, but most of their best songs never made their way onto the radio.

So I guess Johnny hates jazz, then?

What music outside of classical do you like, John? I've literally never seen you make a post about music that isn't classical.

As far as I can tell he likes a few Beatles songs, one Radiohead song, and a few things like Joplin.
