Yeah that didn't play it live too often, but I agree that's a killer version, although I think I still prefer the studio take.

Yousha and Negative Creep you might be surprised how often you would find Fireball in the itunes charts for different countries around the world .... actually for the 50 countries that have a Top 100 itunes chart for rock songs, albums and music videos ... you will generally find Purple in most of those charts in each country at any given time ..... along with Zeppelin, Floyd, Queen, the Beatles and the Stones. Those are the big ones for classic rock bands around the world .... and Rainbow shows up quite often as well ... Take care

gminer = the walking encyclopedia of the charts.

Anyway, to digress a little bit, after being a diehard Purple fan for nearly 15 years now, here's how I would rank the Mark 2 albums...

1. In Rock
2. Fireball
3. Made In Japan
4. Machine Head
5. Who Do We Think We Are! (was never really in love with this album)

but i must tell you, two of my favourite Purple tunes come from WDWTWA - Rat Bat Blue and Place in Line ( this is one fantastic tune, ever member of the band contributes on this timeless piece of music) .... and I have never seen a live album stay in the charts around the world like MiJ ....amazing staying power and I would suggest the only live album you would constantly find on itunes ..... Take care

a few examples

Germany Rock Albums - itunes

55 Deep Purple Made In Japan (Live) [Remastered Edition]

Italy

11 Deep Purple Made In Japan (Live) [Remastered Edition]

Mexico

92 Deep Purple Made In Japan (Live) [Remastered Edition]

I really love the riff to Rat Bat Blue, and Place In Line is indeed a cool blues tune.
Super Trooper is also great.
I mean, there's good songs on the album, but overall I think it pales in comparison to the preceding four albums.

Personally I think Burn is a MUCH better album than WDWTWA.

Oh DAMN that BBC version is nasty! Excellent find. I would say that's the best one by far.
The one from Abandon was kind of dull, imo.

Yeah that version is a bonus track on the remastered version of the 3rd album. I loved it the moment I heard it.
