Is there someone here who can show me to the basics of J-pop and/or K-pop? I just today listened to a Japanese album(this one) that Forgotten Son spoke highly of at some point and found it thoroughly enjoyable. This is the first album of the kind that I've heard so you'll literally need to start from square one.

I think it's the one type of music I'll need a considerable amount of time to like or even take in, ESPECIALLY if im watching a video of it as well. It's just too ridiculous to me for my ears to open and take it in.

It's the ridiculous catchiness that makes it. Don't tell me "GEE GEE GEE GEE BABY BABY BABY GEE GEE GEE GEE BABY BABY BABY" isn't stuck in your head right now.

The videos are great, they actually do enhance the experience a bit for me.

Also, Hikaru Utada's singles comp is awesome. But, the music doesn't sound all too much like the music from those links. It sounds far more like Western pop to me.

It's not. See that's the thing, I grew up with Bollywood music. As catchy if not more than this, and far far more enjoyable to my ears. It's not that i've not tried listening to K-pop, Ive come to the point where I almost listen to anything and everything you folks post or talk highly about, but it's just registered. I get annoyed, rather than amused. Which cannot be a good thing.
