It's hard to avoid an album by a band like that, with a cover like that, with a title like that. Downloading.

Along the lines of what Georgi said, I can't turn down such an easy chance to acquire a Brubeck record I don't have.

I want to save this for later, but I did sneak a listen of one single song. All I could think was, "This is my music."

No "kind of" necessary there, no sir.

So uh, Rahsaan Roland Kirk. I listened to his piece Saxophone Concerto earlier today and—fuck. I'm pretty sure he played continuously for 20 minutes on it. Circular breathing taken to its limit. Also the whole "playing multiple horns at a time" thing.

Listened to Somethin' Else today. Possibly my favorite version of Autumn Leaves.

Also, anybody got any Ellington recommendations? I need a solid compilation OR a studio album in the style of Masterpieces by Ellington

In a Sentimental Mood, ...And His Mother Called Him Bill, Money Jungle

On the first, he collaborates with Coltrane, and on the last with Mingus and Roach. But I'd start with ...And His Mother Called Him Bill.

My favorites:
