not interested on Phil Collins-era. All I know is Selling England needs to be orange, Lamb Lies Down on Broadway needs to be red, perhaps orange as well, and Foxtrot should be bold.

Foxtrot is on a par with Selling England By the Pound for sure.

anyone know or care what I should do with the post-Gabriel, and especially the post-Hackett releases after they jumped the shark? I guess i'll have to regular bold something in there, like Abacab or Invisible Touch.

a trick of the tail and wind & wuthering aren't bad releases. if either of them merits a bold, its trick of the tail, but it'll be ok if it doesn't. post-hackett is no-man's land for me.

and if you want to just include the solo stuff for all the guys here, i can help with hackett's work

Tier is up. I guessed on the post-Hackett "pop years" album to bold.

I actually consider Duke/Abacab/Genesis to be a solid trilogy, I shit you not, I don't care for any of the other post Hackett stuff but I think those are way better than any bitter prog fan is willing to admit.

Duke is definitely the best and most well liked out of those. Abacab is more commercially sucessful but Duke is the most acclaimed of the post Hackett Genesis work, so it definitely deserves a bold.

Trespass has become more appreciated over the years, I think it could be bolded also.

Hooray for Duke. :thumb:

I personally think Trick of the Tail is just as good as the Gabriel stuff, seriously. It's a fantastic record. Wind & Wuthering is damn good too.

Even without Hacket, I think Genesis were still a solid pop band. Abacab and Genesis (Shapes) are by no means masterpieces, especially when they have songs like Who Dunnit? and Illegal Alien. But they're still very good pop albums IMO.

I also think it's incredibly unfair how everyone blames Phil for the direction the band took in the 80s, since it was Banks/Rutherford who did the songwriting, which was also the case in the Gabriel years and I think people give Gabriel way too much credit for the excellent songwriting from that period, since most of his contributions were lyrics.

Yeah people are just morons who think "hey he's the frontman, he must be the main songwriter."

I think A Trick of the Tail and Duke might be my favorite Genesis albums.
