I think that's quite a good way of approaching it actually as a lot of people getting into artists will just go for the most acclaimed and famous albums then give the rest one background listen and ignore them even though you'd probably love them if you gave them a more active listen or two. Whereas, doing it your way round you tend to get a better appreciation of these less famous albums.

That suddden loud part in El Dorado is freaky as hell ...

which is also a top 10 Neil song for me now , such a sucker for Spanish/Latin flavor in any music i listen to ....

and an absolute killer live version , without the freaky part .....

Been thrashing Neil Young. Only heard his albums chronologically up to Time Fades Away, but his music has unbelievable replay value so it's certainly kept me occupied. Something like Harvest (the song) never fails to draw you right into Neil's world - the more familiar it becomes, the more comfortable the embrace is.

Time Fades Away seems awfully underrated. The three piano ballads are uniformly amazing (and heartbreaking), and Neil sounds angry as shit on all the rockers. Which is good.

Yousha, that song you posted, Will To Love, oh my god. Lyrics are perfect, as is the crackling fire in the background and all the tentative, echoing flourishes in instrumentation.

Anyone have a link for Tonight's The Night? I ended up accidentally downloading a prototype version of the album (which is sounding great, but not what I was looking for).

I really just wanna post Neil Young lyrics.

I was lying in a burned out basement
With the full moon in my eyes.
I was hoping for replacement
When the sun burst through the sky.
There was a band playing in my head
And I felt like getting high.
I was thinking about what a
Friend had said
I was hoping it was a lie.

Well, I dreamed I saw the silver
Space ships flying
In the yellow haze of the sun,
There were children crying
And colors flying
All around the chosen ones.
All in a dream, all in a dream
The loading had begun.
They were flying Mother Nature's
Silver seed to a new home in the sun.

It's a testament to Young's integrity that he can deliver a scene of science fiction with all the sincerity of a letter to a lover.

Neil Young is a troll, releasing ANOTHER album this year. This time all original material. Debut single:

I'm not all that familiar with his recent material, so maybe this is standard, but damn, this song is great. 'Walk like A Giant' is the perfect title. Those instrumental breaks are orgasmic. Oh yeah, and the album version will be 16 minutes long.

Psychedelic Pill will also have another 16-minute track called Ramada Inn. But the longest song? Twenty-seven minutes. And that's Driftin' Back, the OPENER. That makes me excited as hell.

Oh and somehow he found time to write a biography, 'Waging Heavy Peace'. Hopefully I'll get that for Christmas.

I believe he wrote the biography fairly recently while his toe was broken and he was unable to perform. Anyway, I'm totally excited for some new Neil material. Especially since it's with Crazy Horse.

Neil is one of those artists with a discography so rich that I often find myself harboring massive obsessions over tracks that usually receive no credit. Recently it's been Barstool Blues and Hey Babe. Trying to learn how to play + sing guitar by learning the latter. Such a bare, striking song, musically and lyrically. Hey babe/say you're mine all mine/I need it oh so bad

He's coming to Auckland next year with Crazy Horse. Let's hope I get a steady income this summer.

The tastiness Neil Young can create with an acoustic guitar and a few simple chords I will never understand.
