I need more great "Scarlet > Fire"s other than the 5/8/77. Not that I'm getting tired of it or anything, I just want to hear more kinds of it.

Listened to that first one and it's pretty great. By the way, I figured out a way how to rip those streams to MP3 if you don't already know how. I can let you know how to do it if you don't.

Also the Dark Star from 1970-09-19 is one of the best things I've ever heard.

I don't know your method, but if you take a link, for example:

just replace the world "details" in the link and replace it with "download", you will be able to download each file in mp3.

Also, I LOVE that Dark Star. I love how it descends into an almost completely silent section after the intro into the first verse. An occasional cymbal scrape or bass string plop, followed by the ominous sounding, alien-like riff, that brings it back up, before changing keys and going into the "uplifting" sounding jam

Well that's thirty thousand times easier than my method. Mine involved downloading the vbr playlist, opening it in Winamp with the output set to write wav files, then converting those wav files into mp3s.

And yeah, that Dark Star is freaking transcendent. I listened to it while falling asleep last night and it blew my mind, specifically the alien-sounding part you mention.

Anyone who posts in this thread should be interested in the list positions i've put in the first post as the replacement for the tiers. It's basically a one-stop place for every list the Dead (or indeed any artist) appears on in the DDD list pages without having to search for it. The positions are for the lists currently on the main DDD page. If you're interested, the other artists that currently have this in the first post are Steely Dan and Radiohead.
