Excellent call on Set The Controls...tune never fails to give me the creeps.

I also love Take Up Thy Stethoscope And Walk! I think I read that Waters himself hated the song, but I love it, especially the pulsating bass throughout the song...

Also it's unfair to say that Animals thematically is just "Animal Farm: The Album" because there is a major difference.

Animal Farm was a critique of communism, which reflected the cold war paranoia of the time, while Animals is clearly a critique of capitalism, definitely a reflection of England in the late 70s.

Criticizing the lyrics for not being "personal" enough is very stupid btw. Waters' thing has always been about looking at the grand scheme of things, which makes his style rather simplistic and maybe a little naive, but it fits the bold nature of the music perfectly.

If he was just some Leonard Cohen wannabe asshole (seriously, don't we fucking have enough of those?) who wrote lyrics about the face print left in his pillow by his ex girlfriend or some emo horeshit like that it would be completely out of sync with the kinda music Floyd were brilliant at creating.
