And throw in Sam Cooke (probably the most influential of all) and Jackie Wilson easily above Stevie, who doesn't even take #1 on my list of Greatest "visually impared" Soul/R&B singers.


That's what I meant by the 'big three' - Cooke, McPhatter, and Wilson.

Also, Redding >>> Jackson, that's a no-brainer.

After Sam Cooke, Redding might be the most acclaimed vocalist in all of soul.
