I would suggest that "Let The Music Play" (top ten pop hit, still gets lots of airplay, number one on our Freestyle Dance Songs list) and "Christmas Wrapping" (tons of airplay every holiday season) are way too popular/well-known to be included.

I second both.

i dont think any of these songs are too popular. the idea of that rule was to get rid of Stairway/Hey Jude/Satisfaction type songs, not something like Christmas Wrapping, which sounds vaguely familiar but is far from widely popular.

I second this. I don't know either of these songs. Popular in this context should mean ubiquitous to the average DDDer, not "was a top ten hit in 1976" or whatever.

i doubt a lot of people here are familiar with it. i know i'm not. the fact that it tops that list is all the more reason to include it imo. (honestly, i didnt even know that list existed either lol)

I do have a suspicion that Golden Years would have been heard by the vast majority of DDDers though, Georgi. We'll have to agree to disagree on that one.

Nah, I agree completely. I just don't want this to turn into a thread of people displaying boring chart info.

Ah, that I do agree with. In another tournie it would be good to have songs we've already heard as well. Album cuts or something.

My thinking on Golden Years was that although it was a popular album cut, it's not Heroes/Space Oddity/Man Who Sold The World level of recognisability, so I thought there would be a decent chunk of people on here who wouldn't know it that well - I wasn't really aware of it until a few months ago, and now it's possibly my favourite Bowie track. Of course, no qualms in changing it - when you've got 2 noms to work with, there are dozens of songs I could have chosen.

Yeah, I'd say anything commonly found on greatest hits collections of major artists should be off limits.

If any of these are too popular or anything, I have a few back-ups.

This is a great idea.

I second that emotion
