I like that plan. If anything make it two votes.

Quick idea for disqualifications. How about if a song gets three "too popular" votes, it's out?

Three votes sounds ideal.

We got it, Brucie. Grooveshark is too modern. Now chill out and watch the tourney grow.

I vote "Golden Years" is too popular.

I'm afraid I agree. I heard it being used as background music just last week. Admittedly on the bbc snooker coverage which some might argue actually supports the idea that it is niche or little known. But still.

David Bowie- Station to Station

Station to Station comes from the same album as Golden Years, but doesn't get nearly as much airtime, so you might not have heard it.

Stickied.

As I started thinking about songs to include, I thought about remakes...I would suggest a rule that we also not include remakes of familiar songs. I would also suggest that it would be a lot of fun, if this works well, to have a future tournament which is *just* remakes of familiar songs, but in unfamiliar ways. (E.g. that Crusaders version of Carole King's "So Far Away" that someone recommended to me recently.)

In the meantime, there are so many possibilities, but I'll try to make a decision tonight or tomorrow. (Looking for a "The Thinker" smilie...)

i am already grateful to you for introducing me to PRR in the first song tournament... hopefully this time they'll earn a few more new fans, too.

These are my two entries...

Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan - Tumhein Dillagi Bhool
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DjeDLijZkuA

Pierre Dormael - Love Me Always
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qzIKLpyG4dI

how strict are the rules for commenting on/criticizing songs?

could only've been his chilliness.

PS: excellent choices, Rogerson (-:

That's my intention. :thumb: Although I do feel a little lame for repping them whenever I get the chance.

The William Bell is too well known. It's a huge soul classic.

The soul sub forum has a grand total of 144 posts, Bruce. I think we'll be alright with the William Bell selection as far as it being too well known a selection round these here parts.
