My mum's into Grizzly Bear, Fleet Foxes etc. but she's fairly unusual. For most suburban mums around here it's a straight up diet of Adele, U2, The Cure, Coldplay, Kings of Leon, and maybe a bit of Fleetwood Mac.

Also, there are different kinds of suburbs. Some suburbs are pretty grimy. Those ones, the moms probs don't listen to G Bear. Probably more like Toby Keith.

I've been called a hipster because of the kind of glasses I wear, so I dunno.

While I do like a lot of stuff that could be considered hipster music like Eno, Bowie, Radiohead, Flaming Lips, post punk, etc I also love a lot of music hipsters despise, like Smashing Pumpkins, Alice Cooper, Deep Purple, Queen, lots of classic rock and prog.

I feel like to be a hipster you have to be the kind of person who can't bring himself to admit he likes "old people" music, or just any music he associates with people he dislikes. And when hipsters trash such music it has everything to do with it's status and little to do with it's actual quality. That's how I define hipster. Just a pretentious douche all around.

But I also hate a lot of "bro" music just as much as I do most indie, not because bros like it, but because it's terrible.

In fact I know some people who like The National and I can still be friends with them, but I don't think I could ever befriend a Juggalo.

I actually like Incubus, but I know more girls who like that band than guys.

Sublime are definitely a bro band though. :lol:
