Fuck, not many people can name 33 albums they like better than Astral Weeks. You're a stronger man than I.

Heh, it could maybe go higher.. But while I've violated my computer/ipod/CD player with most of these albums, I've never had played Astral Weeks that much, which is mainly why I put it there.. It could probably switch with The Band at least I guess..

I'm still waiting for that great revelatory Astral Weeks moment to hit me. I'm sure it will happen, but right now I would take Veedon Fleece over it and perhaps Moondance as well. I guess I've been approaching it like a series of pop songs—like Moondance—and being frustrated when it strayed from my comfort zone, and I know that last time I was taken aback by the intensity in his voice. It was much more potent and visceral than what I wanted to hear. For the next listen I need to get rid of all expectations. And maybe get high first.

Also, what was I thinking, putting something other than 69 Love Songs at number one? It's hard to believe that it exists. Almost any song on it would be the best song by almost any other artist. It has helped me through a lot of awful situations and I don't know where I would be without it, and really, nothing compares to it at all.
