Well I'd have to put Brahms #1 after all the fanboying I've done here. I don't know how to fill out the rest of the list. Maybe I'll come back to it later

Finzi, JS Bach, Elgar, Vaughan Williams, Byrd, Vivaldi, Chopin, Albinoni, Handel, Grieg

Off the top of my head and not particularly in order although the first 7 are more firm favourites than the last 3 probably.

Vaughan Williams, Barber, Elgar, Schubert, Beethoven, Brahms are the ones I feel comfortable listing right now. I feel like I'm still discovering so much music. I just barely started to listen to Finzi, and what I've heard I've loved. I need to listen to more Sibelius because I think he would be another favorite.

Discovered through some reading up on Vaughan Williams that Finzi was a huge fan the poetry of Thomas Hardy (one of my favorites) so I have been trying to track down some of his compositions where he put poetry to music. Loved his adaptation of one of my favorite Wordsworth poems, "Intimations of Immortality". His eclogue for piano and strings is absolutely gorgeous.

Only composers I know well enough at the moment.

For now maybe something like this (last three thrown in there to get to ten, I don't really know enough of their work to judge them properly):

Johann Sebastian Bach; Claude Debussy; Arvo Pärt; Maurice Ravel; Franz Schubert; John Dowland; Ludwig van Beethoven; Edvard Grieg, Richard Strauss; Sergei Rachmaninov

Yes the eclogue is my favourite piece of his. I have Intimations of Immortality on cd if you want a copy. Finzi wrote lots of songs to verses from poems besides Intimations of Immortality and again, pretty sure we've got them all on cd here if you want a copy. Eg:
