I'm going to listen to Jarvi conducting the 4th symphony on Thursday, so hopefully I will be able to appreciate it better. There is also Haydn's 85th, which might suppress my general boredom before his music. And if even neither happens, there will always be Lupu playing Brahms' 1st piano concerto to make up for it.

Just listened to the Clarinet Quintet. I hope I never get used to this music. I went looking for an academic formal analysis of this piece without luck, but I did stumble on this little clip of some guy talking about the piece, which is ok



I found several performances of the piece and none online that I particularly love, but here's a link to a PDF of the full score for the entire piece, if anyone wants to follow along (worth your time).

I have an arrangement of his famous Lullaby for guitar. Very fun to play.

His double concerto in A minor is great, seen it live by a community college orchestra.
