exactly Im a jazz drummer and buddy is overrated, even when you listen to the max vs buddy records ,sure buddy was faster and got him in the solos, but when they played on songs together ,buddy got smoked, I for one, think morello should be rated higher than rich, he played odd time jazz , he soloed better, etc, I think people rank buddy number 1 on the JAZZ LIST cuz he influenced alot of ROCK GUYS, hes ROCK N ROLLS FAVORITE JAZZ DRUMMER, but if you look at this from a jazz standpoint ,minus all his rock acclaim, he doesnt match up , to max roach ,kenny clarke, joe morello, art blakey ,elvin jones, tony williams, etc.
