Nope. But when I was first getting really heavily into jazz, I read the Gioia and found it very informative.

more davis belligerent gold:
In 1986, in Vancouver, Davis stopped his band to eject an uninvited Marsalis from the stage. Davis said "Wynton can't play the kind of shit we were playing", and twice told Marsalis "Get the fuck off."

Nice. I never knew Miles was a Wynton-hater (although I should have expected it)

Prestige has to be the most annoying label ever. All those recordings, released all over the place, under different titles and different artists, plus all the reissues. And their stuff is rarely released in chronological order. Also they had no concept of editing.

Sure there are diamonds to be found, but there's a lot of rough to sift through.

Label, because of which I was most pissed off:

Not Now Music, thanks to this. I mean it's great that they put out low budget reissues of classic jazz albums, but why do they have to omit the forty seconds of the second "Epilogue" take and don't even tell me about it anywhere in the booklet?

This guy is relatively new but have you heard of Jamie Cullum? He covered "Don't Stop The Music" by Rihanna and made a near crappy song sound darn good.
