I think you're only looking at "impact" in commercial terms...

You cant seriously tell me that Dreamer Deceiver is more deserving than Exciter....?
As much as I LOVE Dreamer Deceiver and will forever hail it as a masterpiece, by this criteria it shouldn't be here.

1. Victim
2. Realms
3. YGATC (annoying, but I guess I'm outnumbered)
4. Breakin The Law
5. Painkiller
6. Electric Eye
7. Exciter
8. Dissident Aggressor
9. Living After Midnight
10. Diamonds And Rust

Diamonds and Rust has no place on the list when it doesn't feature Hell Bent for Leather, Metal Gods, The Ripper, etc.

Hold on a second now, it was ME who recommended 'The Ripper' first, just go back and read the previous pages. I think JRA said "fuck no", or something to that effect...

I had also considered Hell Bent and Metal Gods, funny you mention those. But then I'd also considered Tyrant as well. That is truly the most 'Black Sabbath' that Priest have ever sounded... :freak:

Now, about Diamonds & Rust...I reiterate that it was a huge song that's been played live just as much as any other classic.
In fact, in recent performances they have even slowed it down and turned it into an all acoustic number onstage, which is simply awesome.

Yeah brah that impact. Exciter forever man.

You are being a complete dick. Not only are you not addressing any of my points I've made over the last 3 pages, you are using banal insults that frankly, you people would throw at me if I was advocating for something subjective. You are just whining "ehhhh I don't like Exciter than much" and not giving me a proper counterargument for any of my points.

You are looking at these lists as greatest songs list, but the idea behind these lists (at least as far as I'm concerned) is to be as objectively subjective as possible. Consider what would be considered by fans of Judas Priest, fans of metal and fans of music in general what a top 10 favourite songs list would look like. Besides, you can't go off about the "criteria" when there is no criteria posted in the OP.

Somewhere in this thread we fucking decided that impact and influence were part of the criteria. (probably around when we started talking about Alice In Chains).

Nesquik says "Leave the Judas Priest list how it was".
So perhaps he could explain to us why Dreamer Deceiver is more deserving than Exciter.

It's weird seeing a top 10 list by the metal gods without metal gods....

8. Exciter (Stained Class)
9. Dreamer Deceiver (Sad Wings of Destiny)

Why do you think DD even belongs on the list?

The title is iconic to the band, but the fact is they've just written better songs.

Same thing with Immortal and "Grim & Frostbitten Kingdoms."

Because when I edited the list, the overwhelming impression I got was that it should be on the list.

Look, I LOOOOOVE the damn song, but it wasn't popular, influential, or impactful in any way really.
It would score off the charts in something like uniqueness or originality, but not much else...

Hell, if anything, if we're talking Sad Wings then I'd go with The Ripper or Tyrant before anything else.

Probably Tyrant. That gets thrash credit (though not as much as Exciter) for it's breakdown and the harmonic solo toward the end.

Tyrant shows the biggest Sabbath influence of any Priest song, imo.
And yeah I see what you mean about thrash. The chugging, stuttering riffing in the verses...fucken killer.
Of course, by the criteria it doesnt really score as highly as The Ripper, which has remained a huge concert favorite.
