You can't be this stupid. Either way, I'm not much of a fan of IM, could see FotD keeping it's spot over it.

I ain't touchin the Maiden list until Nesquik gives his opinion. Him and I don't always see eye to eye, but I'm pretty sure he doesn't think Phantom should move up to 2 or Iron Maiden should make the list.

Stop bullshitting. You put Alexander The Great on the list and also you put Rime higher.

I put it higher because it beats Phantom in all three criteria.

Popularity - Phantom comes closer to mainstream popularity, amongst the fanbase Rime is still played live occasionally.
Impact - Phantom
Influence - Phantom

Phantom wins.

Part of the hype machine for the World Slavery tour was "OMG a 13 minute song," and they weren't even playing Phantom that often anymore by that time (despite appearing on Live After Death). And everyone was talking about how it was a Samuel Taylor Coleridge poem to the music and how no one had really done that in metal before. Phantom didn't do anything nearly like that for impact.

Influence? I'd say a good 50% of Powerslave's legacy as one of the top 10-ish metal albums of all time is because of Rime. That alone puts it above Phantom.

Popularity? PfffffHahahaha. Phantom comes closer because why? a couple of seconds of it was on VH1? Fuck Vh1.

Neg already answered this one well. I also mentioned Phantom's wane in popularity over the years.

Bull crap. Complete bull crap. Neg also handled this before.

So Phantom's decline in popularity is a reason why it should go higher? Vh1 also spends ridiculous amounts of air time to Limp Bizkit even years after the world stopped realizing they were cool. If Decibel's Hall of Fame gets discredited as a proper source because they include Sepultura's Roots, VH1 gets disqualified for trying to include Limp Bizkit on an honest to goodness metal history show.

I'm not fucking changing it until I get input from Nesquik. And fuck you in advance MJ7, you never even post here anymore, your opinion doesn't count. So fuck off.

You don't get to pick and choose which parts of criteria you get to ackowledge, but that should come as no surprise since you do the same thing with users and arguments. I tried to be nice but you're the most misguided prick on here and you don't even have the intelligence to make it sufferable.

And what's with the Nes fetish all of a sudden? If you can't take a piss without having him look at it first, you should stop trying to do things on your own in the first place.

Cos he knows like I know that putting Phantom at #2 and Iron Maiden replacing Alexander the Great is the gayest shit ever. Especially since he was the one that put The Trooper at #2 which only Neg has objected to.

I'm ok with not always going by what Nes says if I agree with it. I really don't agree with Phantom at #2 and suggesting Iron Maiden should be in the top 20 is laughably stupid.

We also haven't heard joe c say anything on the matter either.

Iron Maiden was Maiden's set closer for years. So the fuck what? Black Wind, Fire & Steel was Manowar's set closer since about 98, and it's not even on their list! Same thing with Anthrax and I Am The Law.

Phantom Of The Opera was an original masterpiece that set the template for all Maiden epics that followed. They took the formula from Priest's Victim Of Changes (main riff, a few verses, slow melodic part, return to main riff) to a whole new level with this song.
You say it's popularity has waned over the years, and maybe it has, but that's more than likely just among the fans, who mostly love the Dickinson era the most.
But to give one example, Metallica were much more influenced by the rawer sound of the Di'Anno material.
