Black Sabbath isn't doom metal.

Pentagram > St. Vitus > Witchfinder General

Cathedral > Paradise Lost > Pagan Altar > Thergothon > Electric Wizard > Skepticism > diSEMBOWELMENT > Shape of Despair > Esoteric

Earth and Asphyx should also be higher.

Disturbing lack of Winter and Katatonia.

I'll help flesh it out to 50 a bit later. Loads of essentials missing.

Ok, he's some bands that could be added (including stoner doom like Sleep, Goatsnake, Spirit Caravan etc.). Bolded the most significant/popular ones:

Cianide
Solstice
Unholy
Isole
Doomsword
Count Raven
The Gates of Slumber
Warning
Grief
Type O Negative
Eyehategod

Spiritus Mortis
Thorr's Hammer
Iron Monkey
Tristitia
Hour of 13
Church of Misery
Spirit Caravan
Place of Skulls
Goatsnake
Burning Witch
Mournful Congregation
Runemagick
Evoken

Ataraxie
Khanate
Coffins
Worship
Sleep

Morgion
Mourning Beloveth
Novembers Doom
Saturnus
Swallow the Sun

Pantheist
Officium Triste
Dark Millennium
October Tide
Paul Chain

Also Jesu should GTFO from the list. They're not even metal.

Oh and they may be influential on drone (which isn't really a doom metal genre in the first place), but Melvins aren't doom either.

Thanks BRC! I kinda just threw the bolded names on there, so we'll probably have to do some reordering.

Again, Shape of Despair shouldn't be above Thergothon or Skepticism. Skepticism > Thergothon > Shape of Despair.

Esoteric are a bit too high.

I think Mournful Congregatoin could grab a low spot, and, despite the possible complaints, The Sword could also grab a spot for popularity around the 45 area.

I added them at 46. And dropped Esoteric about 5 spots. And I rightfully put Thergothon above Shape of Despair (as well as Skepticism). Shape of Despair have mainly only popularity.

Same as all the other "greatest" lists - influence, impact and popularity
