This review is probably the most stupidest and insulting thing I have ever read. I can not believe any sane person would take this seriously! This moron that wrote the review does not once talk about why the album or the songs suck. He basically compares the songs to other good songs and then says that the riffs and solos just aren't even close to as good as those songs. The man swears every two seconds, and then insults the entire band of Metallica in a personal manner calling them stupid and brainless every single time he can. He's not insulting the music, he's insulting the band members and their way of life. This isn't an album review, it's a psychotic rant!

He then goes on to insult Iced Earth, Machine Head, Testament. Insults pretty much every big thrash metal band that either liked or were influenced by Metallica...hmmmm, I wonder why (and yes I know, Iced Earth isn't thrash :P)? This review was done in the clear intend of bashing Metallica just because this dumb reviewer doesn't like them. His opinion can not in anyway be taken seriously.

Metallica's Master of Puppets has been hailed by many and almost every music site in the world as being one of or probably the greatest metal album of all time. It ranks up there as one of the greatest achievements of thrash metal ever recorded. It is epic and grande in scale with riffs and solos that are timeless and memorable, and it deserves all the praise it gets. Master of Puppets was not only influential and considered the best by critics, but also by many thrash bands including Mastodon, Trivium, Machine Head, Iced Earth, Korn, and many many more. It immensely influenced the thrash metal scene whether it be in a good or bad way. I got some of this info from a simple search of wikipedia and the links it has attached to it, so this stuff isn't just coming out of my ass. Master of Puppets deserves the number 1 spot. Its quality and masterpiece status is impeccable.

Why? Because he has the balls to challenge an institution (something metal is supposed to be all about) and alot of his points come very close to the truth and you just don't want to admit it?

Did you even read my first paragraph? "his points come very close to truth", and what points might that be? He has no points apart from insults. Saying James Hetfield is stupid is not a valid point, you need reason and fact behind that claim. Facts that he does not give a part from comparisons like, "this song is better than that song"...could you tell me why? Of course he can't, because he has no reason. Also, there is one thing that I find weird. He says that Master of Puppets started nothing new yet it spawned according to him many shitty metal bands...so was it influential or not? Make up your damn mind! Remember people, influential does not mean it has to be good. Influence could lead towards bad things. Not that I think Master of Puppets lead to bad music, but it's just something I had to get across. lmao!

Master of Puppets > Mega Therion...but that's just me  lol

No, actually. Mercyful Fate would be a lot better if King Diamond didn't suck.

I'm not the hugest fan of his vocals overall, and there are times when he really overdoes the whiney falsetto ("A Corpse Without Soul"), but if anything I find him really unique and interesting anyway.
Also, he doesn't whine as much on Melissa, plus the songs themselves are just phenomenal.

Yeah it's his vocals that have held me back from listening to much King Diamond/Mercyful Fate.

His voice works much better in his solo stuff. It is quite irritating in MF though.

Diamond can be annoying, especially on early stuff like "A Corpse Without Soul". His falstetto is really nasally and he tries to hard to imitate Halford.

BUT, it's not enough to ruin the music for me (espcially when you have such kick-ass guitarists in the band), not to mention he isn't any more annoying than most death metal "vocalists".

I really didn't care for what little KD solo stuff I've heard, but the first three Mercyful Fate albums (counting the EP) totally floored me.

Obviously completely subjective. I find whiney/nasally falsetto irritating but good harsh vocalists add so much to the music.

In a thrash-only list To Mega Therion definitely shouldn't be any higher than Rust in Peace, or Bonded by Blood imo.

Maybe not Rust In Peace, but it definitely trumps Bonded By Blood, imo, which was pretty much just standard thrash. TMT was a masterpiece in that it brought together harsh vocals, more adventurous songwriting, and a much tighter, more focused sound (along with the immaculate production).
Basically, it did everything Master Of Puppets did one year before it.

I guess it depends on what kind of criteria you want to base it on, but it's definitely top 5 any way you slice it. Rust can be above it 'cause it's just THAT fuckin' great, but I dont see any case for Bonded...

Also, I think that purely in a thrash context, Ride The Lightning would be slightly greater than Master Of Puppets, hence my proposal for it at #1.
Being as Ride was the album that introduced the formula and first proved that it could work within thrash, I think it earns that spot.

I'm not arguing that it's not a greater album but whether it's considered more of a thrash classic rather than a bigger extreme metal classic. Rust without a doubt though.
I like your RtL > MoP idea, though thrash is possibly the genre I listen to least.

So, JRA...

1. Ride The Lightning
2. Reign In Blood
3. Master Of Puppets
4. Rust In Peace
5. To Mega Therion
6. Bonded By Blood
7. Kill 'em All
8. Hell Awaits

I dont think it can get much better than that, personally.
