I give originality to SBG because it's the album that solidified death metal as a viable genre.
As mentioned, Seven Churches is more like thrash-death than actual death metal.

Nes, I take it you agree with me on this point?

Oh. :ugh:

Still though, 11 is not top 10. I'm actually fine with EDM being top 11.

So a mere one spot makes that much of a difference to you?

Well jesus when you put it that way....

I mean there was all that squabbling in the Albums thread about what's top 10 worthy.

I disagree with that article. Seven Churches was the move from thrash to death, even though it retained some thrash elements.

SBG would be a lot more original if Seven Churches hadn't come first.

By your criteria Seven Churches is greater than Scream Bloody Gore.

I agree. Seven Churches was the first major long play in death metal.

Precisely.

1. Black Sabbath
2. Kill' em All
3. Iron Maiden
4. Welcome To Hell
5. Blizzard Of Ozz
6. Holy Diver
7. Seven Churches
8. To Mega Therion
9. Scream Bloody Gore
10. Lightning To The Nations

Yeah I know, Blizzard slaughters Welcome To Hell in popularity, but WtH slaughters it in influence and originality.

Yeah it's probably more acclaimed and popular. I'd give it influence too, I was very surprised to find out how many bands covered songs from that album.

Any objections to Welcome To Hell taking Blizzard for #4?
Again, it kills in influence and originality.

Why are you talking about popularity when it isn't even part of your criteria?

To Mega Therion vs. Seven Churches
Influence: Tie
Importance: Tie
Originality: To Mega Therion
Acclaim: Tie

I'd give To Mega Therion the benefit on influence for having a wider range. Probably (not doing research here) more acclaimed within the metal community as a whole.

Probably because I'm so used to discussing it on other lists.... :durr:

I'd probably give importance to Seven Churches, if barely. Although SBG was the first "exclusive" death metal album, Seven Churches paved the way.

How I'd see it...

Influence - Tied
Acclaim - To Mega Therion
Importance - Seven Churches
Originality - To Mega Therion (it wasnt the first hardcore thrash album, but the production, the female vocal parts, and the overall construction of the album was hugely original).

At least we all agree that TMT gets the nod.

Now, Blizzard Of Ozz vs. Welcome To Hell...

Influence - Welcome
Acclaim - Blizzard
Importance - Welcome by a fuckin landslide
Originality - Welcome by a fuckin landslide
