Still have absolutely no clue why Queensryche is considered a prog band, aside from writing a story concept album.

Somewhat agree with this. They somewhat influenced the genre, but there's a lot of other bands pre-Queensryche that are a lot more progressive in their act. Queensryche is more traditional metal imo.

And BtBaM are a good band (Obfuscation is simply one of the best drum performances I've ever heard). Definitely don't deserve any moving in this list though.

Exactly. If QR are prog, then so are Blind Guardian, Iron Maiden, Kamelot, Iced Earth, Metallica, and Judas Priest, amongst others.

Have to admit to not having heard near all of their discography, but I've had my fair share of listens to Operation: Mindcrime, and I've kinda been thinking the same thing. Most of the instrumental stuff is pretty straight forward, with no particular technical wizardry to speak of.

Metallica would be my shining example of a band that actually for stretches has a LOT more progressive material, but would never be considered a progressive band. I mean, listen to Black Sabbath's Sabotage, its VERY progressive, especially for its time. You'd still never call Black Sabbath a progressive band.

100% not deserving of being on this list. Seriously, just because you like them doesn't mean they're great.

I could see them as at least Top 80 or 90, considering Epica has obtained a ton of recognition in the symphonic metal world and Alestorm has managed to become highly popular despite being what should be a niche band.

When Alestorm becomes a progressive metal band (or any less of a joke for that matter), maybe?

Just because they have a theme doesn't make them a joke. I'll concede them, but why not Epica? Unless this list just doesn't include power metal bands, which is understandable I guess.
