The top 10 is perfect! Awesome job, I really can't disagree with anything about it. Not too sure about the rest but the top 10 seems perfect to me. :metal:

Manowar has much more direct influence. Like, way more.

Ministry could move up a bit, eh? They pioneered industrial metal, after all. And I know the style isn't all that big these days, but it certainly had a significant movement in the '90s.

I don't see them being any greater than the bands ahead of them.

Love the top 10 and glad to see Slayer higher than Motorhead. Thing is though, I'm still not sure why Metallica is higher than Judas Priest? I'm sure this has already been talked a lot about but can someone tell me the facts on this one? I always thought that the only thing Metallica had over Priest was popularity...and that's it. Isn't Judas Priest more influential than Metallica? They have been around since the 70's and are one of the founders of metal (right next to Black Sabbath).

I think the main argument is that most post-NWOBHM bands are influenced by Metallica because that's likely going to be one of the first bands they listen to and get them interested in playing metal. For what it's worth, I think Judas Priest should be above Metallica as well.

I also think it would make more sense to have Judas Priest above Metallica, but I think we came to the conclusion that if we are to strictly follow the criteria, Metallica win.

What happened to the criteria anyway?

Explanation?
Dio is renowned as one of metal's 3 greatest vocalists, and is known for some of the most beloved and respected metal music in the history of the genre.

Exactly. Ronnie James Dio is very influential and important. There's already a thread for that.

Dio certainly is more popular, more impactful and more influential than Manowar.
Dio was a titan that everyone in the metal business looked up to. Manowar was....another power metal band with a technical singer.

Except when you consider that Manowar was the first power metal band. And by several years.
And that they had a huge influence on the Viking metal scene.

In fact, what you said applies more toward Dio.

Yeah, and we all know how significant "viking metal" is......come on.
I have never heard a single bad comment about Dio from ANY metal artist, 'cept Ozzy....

Dio's influence spreads across the whole of metal, not just "power" and "viking".
