Why is led zep iv the best epic album? Staitway is the only song on it i would consider an epic.

Fair enough, though I think a greater emphasis could be made on the difference between an epic and a long song. Also, I think there is a case for Wish You Were Here being the greatest epic album.

That, I might agree with. But what's the criteria for the albums?

I guess i just assumed its the same criteria as songs, just applied to the album as a whole. Can anyone clarify?

this actually got posted on the main page too , damn impressive work by Timi .... and though i still dont agree with Stairway being 2 , with the complexity and effort put into Bohemnian , i guess it may as well be 1 ....

American Pie could jump three or four spots maybe, but not much more.

How is War Pigs an epic and how is it or any of the 11-20 ahead of Close to the Edge, which is one of the most definitive, important, and impressive epics of rock history, if by epic you mean what I think you do. Epic isn't really defined well, since A Day in the Life and Master of Puppets are not epics either by what I consider an 'epic'. Half of these are just 7-8 minute songs, I don't think that's a criteria for an epic, 8 minutes or longer, there should be more to it.

How would you define it?

Obviously we can't use the Greek definition.

I said earlier that there should be more emphasis on that. I wouldn't discard all the songs that are just long though. We need Timitziis opinion before we act on that though.

"Epic" is defined in the first post of this thread.
