Number one has to be The E.N.D. by Black Eyed Peas. Over 12 million copies sold, huge radio airplay, already having a significant influence on other artists.

I don't know anything about this album, but I see it's very low rated on Rate Your Music (1.82 out of 5.00 with over 600 ratings) and it's not even listed on acclaimedmusic.net, which lists over 50 albums from 2009.

Apparently this is a huge album with the general public, but the critics and the hard core music fans hate it. Sounds like the Grease soundtrack.

For other 2009 pop albums, Taylor Swift's "Fearless" had some decent reviews, but i'm not sure how "country" it is. It's definitely more pop rock influence than previous crossover country records, like Shania Twain's "Come On Over" and contains quite a few songs that cannot be called "country" by any stretch. Maybe a Top 10 album?

Florence + the Machine's "Lungs" is definitely a shoe in for the Top 10. Massive critical acclaim, good sales, some influence and it had surprisingly high pop success for what is basically an indie rock record.

are you serious? Aside from I Gotta Feeling that album was utter shit. For a pop album what about Love vs Money? I know alot of people on here love the album and it got good reviews, idk about airplay and album sales but that means nothing nowadays considering the junk stations play.

Sorry, but the criteria isn't "albums that are most enjoyed by the posters here". It's "immediate and lasting popularity, impact, influence, originality, and acclaim from critics and musicians" This album is definitely number one in popularity and very high in influence. It's pretty high in impact, too. You can't ignore popularity just because you don't like what's popular. What album scores better, overall, on the criteria?

Love Vs. Money (by The-Dream) certainly seems like a worthy contender for the list.

but The End got zero acclaim, actually most reviews pegged it as an atrocious album. The album has no lasting appeal.

Chicken Sandwich, Acclaim is only one of the criterion. Granted its an important criterion, its just not the only one.

Here's a list I made with most of the albums suggested
1. Merriweather Post Pavilion - Animal Collective
2. Lungs - Florence + The Machine
3. Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix - Phoenix
4. Fearless - Taylor Swift
5. Only Built 4 Cuban Linx Pt. II - Raekwon
6. Embryonic - The Flaming Lips
7. Love vs. Money - The-Dream
8. XX - The xx
9. The E.N.D. - The Black Eyed Peas
10. Sigh No More - Mumford & Sons

If there's a major problem with "The E.N.D." being here (personally I think its awful, but personal opinion doesn't matter with DDD lists), it could be replaced by something else. Looking at the other 2009 albums, that's either gonna be "Everything That Happens Will Happen Today" by David Byrne & Brian Eno or "The Resistance" by Muse.

That's a ridiculous exaggeration. It certainly got a good deal of negative reviews, but it got positive reviews from Rolling Stone and Entertainment Weekly, among others. Robert Christgau called it "wondrous" and gave it an A. And as much as "lasting" can apply to an album that's three years old, its appeal has lasted. It still gets plenty of airplay and dance-floor play.

This means nothing, Rolling Stone also gave Nickelback's Dark Horse a 3.5 review and that album is genuinely terrible. Rolling Stone isn't a very good arbiter of album quality.

There needs to be Mastodon on there for one of those years. The Blackening by Machine head could be on the 2007 list but I don't know if it meets the criteria. It was highly praised though as one of the very best metal albums of the decade.
